cost 【注意】修飾cost要用副詞high或low.

●辨析cost, take, spend和pay

cost 及物動(dòng)詞“花費(fèi)”，指花費(fèi)金錢(qián)、勞力和時(shí)間。主語(yǔ)通常是事或物，可跟雙賓語(yǔ)。

如: Electricity will cost more than it did last year. 電費(fèi)比去年要花得多。

take 及物動(dòng)詞“花費(fèi)”，指花費(fèi)時(shí)間。主語(yǔ)通常是一件事，也可以跟雙賓語(yǔ)。

如：It will take me two days to finish the work. 完成這項(xiàng)工作需要花費(fèi)我兩天的時(shí)間。

spend 及物動(dòng)詞“花費(fèi)”，指花費(fèi)時(shí)間和金錢(qián)，主語(yǔ)總是人?？梢孕纬蓅pend…on sth./in doing sth.

如：I pend two days going shopping with my wife. 我花了兩天的時(shí)間和妻子購(gòu)物。

pay 及物動(dòng)詞&不及物動(dòng)詞“付錢(qián)”，后面可以跟雙賓語(yǔ)，也可以當(dāng)不及物動(dòng)詞使用，形成pay for sth.結(jié)構(gòu)。

如：Dick’s uncle has to pay for his education as his father has come down in the world.

Dick的叔叔必須為他的教育付費(fèi)，因?yàn)樗母赣H已經(jīng)過(guò)世了。

A. pay B. spend C. cost D. ask

[解答]C。句意：修自行車(chē)要花很多錢(qián)嗎？

[試題]We must recover the stolen goods at all _____.

A. accounts B. conditions C. payments D. costs

[解答]D。句意：我們必須不惜任何代價(jià)找回被盜的貨物。at all costs不惜任何代價(jià)。

[試題]The new English dictionary I bought yesterday _____ me almost twenty yuan.

[解答]C。句意：昨天買(mǎi)的英文字典花了我將盡二十元。

[試題]Our slogan is "Quantity should never be increased at the _____ of quality."

[解答]B。句意：我們的口號(hào)是：數(shù)量的增加決不能以犧牲質(zhì)量為代價(jià)。at the cost of為固定短語(yǔ)“以……為代價(jià)”。

[解答]D。句意：警察得到命令，要不惜一切代價(jià)找回那些被偷的文件。at all costs“不惜任何代價(jià)，無(wú)論如何”。account一般常用于：on all accounts“無(wú)論如何”；conditions和payments都不和at搭配。
